The Three Sides to TriTutoring

01. Foundations

Often, a lack of foundational skills is why students reach out to tutors in the first place. The first step in the process is to evaluate and address gaps in the student’s basic understanding before moving on to advanced topics.

02. Strategies

Especially with test taking, a strong understanding of the material is sometimes not enough. Learning strategies for eliminating options, reading questions carefully, and working through complex problems is an important step.

03. Student Effort

Nothing is as important as the effort a student is willing to put in to tutoring. As everyone knows, you get from an experience as much as you’re willing to put into it!

The Tritutoring Experience

Personalized Learning

Your tutoring experience is built upon a variety of pieces. “Tri” represents the three sides of tutoring: foundations, strategies, and student effort. Still, there is more to it than that. The most important factor in your experience? You! Every session is personalized to the student’s learning style, base knowledge, and goals. No two sessions are alike, and the session format and style shift as I get to know how the student learns.

Skills.

Even before Covid-19, I have tutored a portion of my students virtually. I find that, though certainly not the same, digital sessions can actually help with focus and can force students to improve their academic communication skills. How do you put into words why a math problem was hard for you? That becomes even more important when working virtually.

Support.

Besides health and physical safety, a student’s emotional safety is always a priority. Just as important as learning the concept is learning to be thoughtful and confident while reaching an answer. Students should always feel supported; I am on their team, working to help them succeed!

Students.

It’s impossible to give one general outline of the TriTutoring experience, but please reach out with your specifics and I can provide you a starting point for what you could expect.
